Hello everyone,

Bare shoulder look……..I am a convert. This trend was not something I was keen on but it kept popping up on my IG feed and I decided to try making one. This simple top is  Mimi G Simplicity 8045 pattern that comes along with a free video sewalong which can be found on YouTube. I found this very useful as I did not have to bother reading the instructions. I hope the future of all sewing patterns goes down that route. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

Construction .

I did not do the ruching. I wanted a clean cut look. Plus the only cream knit fabric in my stash was this slightly thick ponte. I was worried the ruching might look lumpy. Simplicity 8045 is actually a dress pattern but I just cut it at the hip. To my utter shame I was too lazy to change the overlocker thread and used pink. A lamentable decision as I can see the pink seams.June 18 345

I whipped it up in an hour from pattern cutting to hemming. Hems were finished with a simple zig zag

I love this top and I plan on making another one in a lighter weight cotton jersey. As it is, despite being off shoulder, it can get very warm. Sizing wise I would say it runs slightly small to size. Its a bit snug, though not uncomfortably so, but I would imagine if your boobies are larger the wrap might not stay put and ride up.  The upper part stays put by way of elastic and is very secure.

Its a great date night top that was well received on date night when I wore it with my Vogue 1486 skirt:-).

Do you have any date night sewing patterns to recommend? As the little people get older I sense more date nights in the near future….

Thank you for stopping by my little corner of the interwebs where I record my sewing journey.  Until next time. Happy Sewing!

Peace and love,

Hila
