Hi guys,

Super quick post to share a super quick make. The Ella top from Liola Patterns is a  a casual tank top with french seams, bust darts, a back yoke, and back pleat. I cut the size small based on the finished garment measurements.

I quite like the shape – fitted at the top and tiny amount of flare at the hem. Its a very satisfying sew that comes together very quickly. The armholes and neckline are finished using bias binding.

Its a very well drafted pattern where everything just lines up beautifully. Unfortunately the material I made this with was horrible to work with. It was spongy and wouldn’t hold a crease. I made the mistake of turning my iron heat to medium and it burnt the fabric right off! So this is a muslin.

The top has a  comfortable fit and made in the right fabric (am thinking cotton lawn, linen, silk) it will be great.

Its a very summery thing to wear. I didn’t get to wear it that much because in summer I just love dresses – especially maxi dresses. Yet I like it enough to think about how I could incorporate it into my wardrobe for next summer (make some shorts maybe?). I will update you next summer then 🙂

For pictures I styled it with my Birkins trying to go for a 70s vibe….life is too short to not try the 70s 🙂 birkin16ella20topbirkin15birkin9birkin14
