Can you believe we are already into the fourth month of the year! Its April 1st and I LOVE April! Because April is my birthday month :-). Its also the first proper spring month too. I digress.
There are so many patterns added to my sewing list from all the fantastic makes I am seeing on the #burdachallenge2018 feed on IG as well as the accompanying blog posts.
Steely Seamstress is planning a fantastic seventies vintage dress here – Sewing the Seventies .
Diane @DreamCutSew has killed two birds with one stone when she made this lovely belted – Burda Waist Detail Top . The top was from Burdastyle ticking off her #burdachallenge2018 and also #makeyourstash which is a great challenge by TimetoSew.co.uk and PilarBear.com.
Maggie (magscreativemeanderings.blogspot.co.uk) made a peplum blouse that has me thinking of cheery cherry trees – March BurdaStyle Challenge.
I went and traced out the knotted midi dress after seeing Allison’s version on IG – Knotted Midi Dress . She also has a picture tutorial for sewing the twisted front band which I found so helpful.
Fellow Minerva Maker @Topstitchrollhem ticked off her #burdachallenge2018 with this luscious tropical dress
Here is a very belated picture of my February make for the #burdachallenge2018 – I promise I finished it in February! March coming soon… Fabulous tropical scuba is from @minervacrafts 💚🌿#2018rtwfast #fabric #sewing #dressmaking #burdastyle #memadeeveryday #memadewardrobe #sewistsofinstagram #makersgonnamake #janomemakes #isew
A cute baby dress by @lejditea
I've made another tiny dress, but this one is for baby Olga 😊 Without any clear idea about sewing for babies I turned to #burdastyle patterns and found this super cute dress with many details that I love making.. Button down dress with collar, cap sleeves and combination of plated and gathered skirt 😍 Would love to make this one in grown up size 😊 I needed 0.5m of fabric for this little dress, so I took this cute stripes and herons cotton fabric I have in my stash from last season.. Sewing all these small parts was slightly nerve wracking for me, but in the end I'm satisfied with how it turned out 😍 . The pattern is no 145 from #burdastyle 07/2012.. . #burdastylegermany #burda #burdachallenge2018 #sewingaddict #fabriclove #sewingforbaby #sewingforgirls #handmadebabyclothes
If you have ever thought about how to organise magazine patterns then check out this little clip that @lumisumu shared on IG. This is exactly what I need to do with my growing collection of magazines.
When it comes to patterns, Burda Style is my number one choice. Recently I've been hoarding them at the local library. I decided to photocopy the "All Styles at a Glance" spreads to my own archive. It'll make the pattern hunt much more easier! …Oh, I'm definitely going to participate the #burdachallenge2018 ! 💪😊 #sewing #patterns #burdastyle
Meg is making a suede and fur open cardigan with a full picture tutorial : Megs Magazine Mash Up 03/2018
Remember to check out the #burdachallenge2018 for inspiration. Though IG has its limitations and annoyances – I appreciate the “translate text” options which means that language is not a barrier. There are many non-english speaking sewcialists also participating in this challenge and we are able to read about each other’s journeys, thoughts, joys and frustrations.
If you are also sewing with Burda to tick off your own personal goals then please share your journey & connect with others around the globe via #burdachallenge2018.
Looking forward – I love the April issue (which is a relief since it’s my birthday month :-).
However, between the holidays, my annual spring clean and Minerva Blogger Network makes, I cannot reasonably expect to sew more than a couple of items so my plans are reflective of this. So here are my plans….plus I need to catch up with unblogged makes 🙂
If you’d like to hear my thoughts on the latest April issue
Thanks so much for stopping by,
Peace and love,
