Sewing with colour is so much fun!
April is my birthday month so naturally, when I planned sewing this month’s project I had my mind set on creating something with va-va-voom. This is what I sewed for my April Minervacrafts Blogger Network project.
Fabric love – Cotton&Steel XOXO Basics
To say I fell hard for the colourways in the XOXO Basics collection is an understatement. I was smitten with the fabric and am even more so now that the fabric has been transmuted in my vision of a colour block shirt dress. The fabric formed the basis of this project. Combined with the simple design lines of Burda 4/2019 #120 I was a goner!
I shared my Burda April sewing plans and this dress was one of two garments from the issue I wanted to sew. Actually sewing a project in the same month as the issue is a big achievement for me. I have a tendency to overthink and overplan projects so this is a win for my new mindset of “Just doing it”.
Meanwhile here is the link that will take you to the post on the Minerva Craft Blogger Network. Enjoy!
Here is a sneak peek from the review that answers the question “Did the finished garment look like the pictures when you finished?”.

April 11, 2019 1:54 pmHi Hila, what a gorgeous dress, I love the color blocking you did. I also bought this issue and this dress along with the pouch pocket skirt are my favorites, but t’s a great issue and there are so many patterns I would like to make from it.
