Knipmode 4/2019 Line Drawings & My Favourites

This year I want to post and record the sewing patterns I like from each Knipmode issue. I have created a Pinterest board so I can easily access this line drawing info from anywhere with a decent internet connection.

I have about 13 KnipMode magazines in my collection and have renewed my subscription this year.

KnipMode Magazine – a brief intro

Knip Mode is a popular Dutch sewing magazine that, unlike Burda, has an extended size range. In other words – all the patterns they have are available in all of the sizes. The size range is from European 34 – European 54 drafted for C cup and 172cms (5ft6″) height (yes the average Dutch height is higher than other countries)

You also get bumper issue 3 times a year that include an extra booklet with about 5 more patterns.

How to subscribe to KnipMode Sewing Magazine

You can subscribe to Knipmode magazine from anywhere in the world by emailing their customer service (klantenservice@knipmode.nl) with where in the world you are and they will let you know the cost including P&P to your country and then you can pay by bank transfer. There may be a 6 – 8 week gap between paying for your subscription and getting your first issue – thats been my experience though I am uncertain why this is so. Its sounds complicated but it is quite simple once set. You can download individual patterns as PDFs on the Knipmode website

Do Knipmode patterns include seam allowances?

No. KnipMode does not include seam allowances. This is pretty standard across European based sewing pattern magazines. I am used to it now and prefer that as that gives you the flexibility to work with what you like.

How to start sewing with Knipmode

The sewing instructions are in Dutch. Between Google translate and a sewing book reference, you can manage. You can buy a download PDF to see how they fit you. The PDFs only cost 4.99Euro. Sewing with sewing magazines can require a new mindset and I talk about that in my podcast (though I use Burda as the reference point the same applies to all sewing magazines).
