Today’s sewalong video post is for McCalls M6044 Men’s Shirt sewing pattern. It is a fun festive project that is perfect for Christmas! I had so much fun sewing this project.
I have sewn M6044 for my husband 6 times now and counting. Let me tell you – I have plans for more! Or rather “we” have plans for more. This is a TNT pattern that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to sew a men’s shirt.

For this sew-along tutorial, I used a medium weight quilting cotton that has the feel that is closer to poplin or broadcloth. There are 3 colourways in this stags print – red, green and ivory. My husband selected the red. The 100% cotton makes it perfect for structured sewing like that involved in making collars and button plackets.
In the sewing tutorial, I share comprehensive step by step instructions with some tips, tricks, and advice. After sewing McCalls M6044 six seven times now – I know how to avoid common pitfalls with this pattern which I cover in the sewalong.

My sewing style is very relaxed and easy-going. My sewing philosophy is that “sewn is better than perfect“. There arent any mistakes that cant be recovered from and even when I make any mistakes I show how I fix them. There is no perfectly tidy sewing room or neat workflows – I just share it how I exactly sew up my projects.
