I sewed this dress for a special date night to celebrate an anniversary. I used the Flounce Dress from Sew Different patterns. It’s a fun dress to sew and wear.
When I saw this dress I knew that I wanted to sew it with contrasting fabrics to show off that curved seam. Looking for the right fabric combo took a while. The final result was quite pleasing to my eye.

Sew Different Flounce Dress Review

The Flounce midi-length, with capped sleeves that are integrated into the body and longline darts. There is a sweeping asymmetric style line dropping from the waist down to the floor. The side flounce drapes to one side creating an uneven hemline. There is the option of adding a pocket on one side.

UK Size 8-26 US Size 4-22. I sewed size 10 based on my bust measurement.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The section on attaching the flounce was a bit tricky so I did my own thing. I recorded a video sewing tutorial to show how to sew it – particularly the asymmetrical flounce. VIDEO LINK- HOW TO SEW THE FLOUNCE DRESS.
Flounce Dress – Step by Step Tutorial
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved the side drape effected by the flounce. I also liked that fact the capped sleeves and neckline are generous enough for this to be a pullover dress.
Fabric Used
I used a combo of two fabrics. Both are Cotton and Steel, 100% Rayon, 44″ wide. The contrast fabric is a beautiful popping orange floral. The drape on this rayon is gorgeous. I loved sewing with these fabrics.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made
None. I sewed it as is.
Would you sew it again?
Yes! I plane on at least 2 more in jersey fabrics.
Would you recommend it to others?
Yes! Not only is it easy to sew, but it also makes for a modern-looking fashionable garment.
Conclusion
Love how this dress turned out. It has been getting a lot of wear as rayon is a very comfortable fabric to wear.
