Hello everyone,
A quick post here mulling over how to follow blogs. Having just got back from a lengthy holiday in which I was forcibly unplugged from the interwebs due to a broken phone; I find that I have returned and have a lot of catching up to do with the blogs I follow.
If you are like me, and you have lots of blogs to read, but don’t always remember to go there, don’t have the right time to get online but fish around other spots and then you realize it’s been a month or more since you’ve been to your favourite spot on the web.  I have a problem because I really like blogs on many different blogging platforms. I also have a problem because my main platform for reading blogs is Feedly which conveniently has an app as well. I have noticed that most blogs dont have the Feedly button though which would make things much easier but I have to remember to manually add the name of the blog to my list. I like Feedly because it has the option to arrange in folders and subfolders. So e.g. I have  Sewing folder and within that is Kids sewing for blogs that principally produce that sort of content.
I also use Bloglovin mainly because most blogs have that follow button. But they have now changed the way the send the blog alerts and I have since realised that I dont get an email with all the blogs I follow – just a digest. Â Its not my favourite format but its the most commonly available.
Since my blog is hosted on WordPress I have the options of the Reader here. I like this because its very very easy for me to comment and like posts and I get realtime notifications of new posts. . However these benefits are only with other WordPress blogs, consequentially I comment more on WordPress posts as it takes me very little time. I can add blogs on other platforms like Blogspot but I can comment or read comments on the posts easily. Plus I have also noticed that some posts dont show up on Reader even though I will double check that I am following the blog but I still have to go to that blog to see new posts. I find this very frustrating and have yet to find a solution to that.
These are the 3 ways I use to follow blogs – I know there are others out there. How do you follow your blogs? Have you found a seamless way to follow and easily comment on blogs outside your own platform? Please share in comments. I am really keen to hear how others handle this.
Many thanks for stopping by!
