I sewed another Burda 8/2020 #108 skirt. I have already written up a sewing pattern review which you can read here for further detail. In this post, I will write about the changes I made to this version. I took the pictures after I had been wearing it for several hours and needlecord wrinkles like mad!
The pattern is meant to have a draft it yourself waistband which I omitted for this skirt. I used petersham ribbon instead. That is the main change that I made. The length of the skirt is a bit shorter as I cut it all out of a 0.5m piece of petrol needlecord (sadly sold out now). The colour of the cord caught my eye as I was browsing Fabrics for All when I was actually shopping for my kids’ costumes’ fabric. I immediately loved how vibrant the colour was. I had bought just a half meter so that I could use one of my own self drafted A-Line skirt patterns. I till think this would make for a nice A-line skirt too but once the idea of using the panel skirt stuck – it stuck and I couldn’t see it becoming anything else. I had to line it since I was sewing with needlecord. I recycled the lining from an old skirt. When it came to the hem I used a lovely ribbon that is a nice accent to the petrol. I sewed the lower part to the hem at 1/4″, turned it under, and hand-sewed the ribbon to the hem. I did this to keep as much of the length as I could.
I like how it turned out and have been wearing with style with my french terry SewHouse7 Toaster sweater (I wear thermals underneath in winter too). Its a great school run outfit.

Verdict on Burdastyle 8/20 #112
The skirt pattern is a classic workhorse that I am certain I will use again. The style works on so many levels and makes for a great uniform if one were so inclined. It is quite versatile given that a change in the fabric creates a new look altogether. I am keen to try it in jacquard and see how it holds a metallic structured fabric.
Thanks for stopping by! I will be back soon with another make from Burda 10/2020! Have you sewn from Burda 8/2020 yet?
