Here is my Burda 2/2019 #115 dress sewing pattern review of the project that I sewed up earlier this year. It was one of those sewing projects where the sum is greater than the parts.
When I start sewing a project, I never really know where it will take me. There are times when I change my mind just before cutting into a piece of fabric. So it was with this project.

The fabric that I used has been in my fabric collection for well over 5 years. It was one of those that I bought early on in my sewing journey. I do recall that it was John Kaldor as I had just discovered John Kaldor’s range of fabrics and proceeded to buy up any that I could find reasonably priced.
This purple and black beauty came from the Sew Essential online shop. The drape on the crepe is just beautiful and lovely. It almost flows through my fingers. It is also deliciously soft with fantastic fluid movement. It is no wonder I have been rather precious about it.
The sleeve fabric is a sheer poly mix fabric was from Minerva -the colours fit quite well together.
The contrasting sleeve was a result of necessity as I didn’t have enough of the main fabric to sew up the sleeves. After digging around in my fabric stash I stumbled upon the sleeve material.
Sometimes it is a good thing to shop the stash!

January 14, 2020 5:49 pmHello Hila,
You look beautiful in the dress, I love the fabric and it fits you perfectly! I have a question about the downloadable Burda patterns, depending on how many you have sewn. Do you find that they are all skimpy on the instructions? I recently purchased a coat pattern and it may as well have said “just make me” on the (lack of) instructions. I am an experienced sewist so I can make it without them but I was curious to know if the other patterns were the same.
Thanks,
Kim

January 17, 2020 9:30 amHi Kim! Welcome to the world of Burda! They don’t really do instructions like others – the exception is if you buy the paper envelope patterns, those have excellent instructions. The PDFS are just like the sewing magazine instructions – very scant and assume you know what you are doing. I did a post on the Burda rationale here – https://www.saturdaynightstitch.com/2019/04/19/are-burda-patterns-difficult-the-saturday-night-stitch-podcast/
