Burda 7/2017 #105 Pattern Review. This project is possibly the most worn garment in my summer wardrobe. A kaftan is a great item for those hot days when you don’t feel like putting in a lot of effort but want to look put together.

Burda 7/2017 #105 Pattern Review
Pattern Description Simple one-piece caftan dress with a loose fit. Optional belt.
Pattern Sizing – Instructions available for EUR 34 , 36 , 42 , 44. I sewed up size EUR36.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? – Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? – Yes! There is no actual sewing pattern to trace off. You follow a set of instructions with measurements on a folded piece of fabric.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? – I love the simple look of the caftan and was attracted to the idea of an easy to wear garment.
Fabric Used: Lady McElroy Orange Blossom Linen Viscose Fabric Green. 60% Viscose 40% Linen. 58″ wide. This fabric is an absolute delight. It is lightweight and comfortable. It looks like linen and feels like linen but without the crease – y tendencies. It washes well on a 30-degree wash and doesn’t require ironing.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None
Would you sew it again? Yes
Would you recommend it to others? – Yes!
Conclusion – I love how this dress turned out. This simple classic style can be sewn over and over creating different looks depending on the fabrics used.
