In this post, I am talking about my sewing goals and my plan for achieving them. It all started when I renewed my Burda Sewing Magazine subscription in January because last year my Burda sewing was consistent. As a result, I sewed at least one Burda magazine item per month #yay!
I enjoyed 11 of the 12 magazines I received in 2018. On the balance of things, 11 out of 12
Burda Completist
A Burda completist is a one who wants to complete a set of all the issues of a particular year of publication. Generally mildly derogatory. Not to be confused with a Burda collector; someone who collects Burda issues because they love the designs in the issue and find them useful. The key distinction is how issues are selected: completists are indiscriminate.
I digress….lets get back on track.

Burda Sewing Goals
My goals last
To sum up, here is what my Burda goals look like:
Each month, with joy I
Will make – 1 item.
It’d be great to make 2.
3 items – rock star!

With that in mind, here is what I am planning on sewing for the coming month of April.
Burda 4/2019 #120
I really like the style of this seventies style dress because of its simple design lines. The drop shoulder sleeve looks quick to sew up.
Update: I sewed it up and the blog post is here <My Birthday Dress> PLUS you can see the dress in action on my Youtube channel here (just click play the video starts exactly where this dress is – though you might also enjoy the other sewing projects on show too! So feel free to watch the whole thing 🙂 –
Burda 4/2019 #108
The trousers have an interesting pocket detail while the high waist means it will be a flattering fit for me. Similarly, Chris (handmadebychris.wordpress.com) sewed them and she moved the side zip to the centre front. I will be doing that as well.
You can check out my fabric choices on this video.

April 6, 2019 1:43 pmHi Hila, i would love to be a burda “completist” too. I have not sewn something from every issue yet, but getting there. I so enjoy browsing for inspiration. It is my favorite magazine. The pants look fabulous on Chris and will look perfect on u, too. I just sewed them up last night in a bright blue
knit purchased from fashion fabrics club. I still have the bottom trim to do. I am still having issues understanding the burda instructions so i am trying to make the items w the illustrated instructions every month. These pants are very cute and they fit nicely. As i was making them, i worried they were too long. I am 5 ft-3 in, quite short, but they seem just long enough — down to my ankle… something to note. Also, i decided not to put in a zipper. My hips are very narrow compared to my waist so i just made the waist band about an inch narrower. Seems to work, so far… cant wait to see your version! I like the zipper in the middle on Chris’ pants. I just dont like putting in zippers so i avoid them if i can! I would love to find an easy pattern for stylish pull-on (no zipper) stretch pants!

April 12, 2019 9:23 amI love the idea of sewing them in a knit fabric and making them pull on! Thanks for sharing. I love browsing the magazine too, its a nice non sewing “sewing” activity to do when I cant get to the sewing cave. x
