I sewed up another DIY sewing project – Simple Sew Cocoon Dress using Cloud9 barkcloth dressmaking fabric. Given that this is a sewing pattern that I have used to sew up 3 other cocoon dresses already – I can safely say that I love it! To check out the full Simple Sew Cocoon Dress Pattern Review please read this post where I went into great detail and you can see 2 more cocoon dresses.
Cloud 9 Fabrics Cotton Barkcloth Fabric
This barkcloth is made of 100% GOTS cotton. It has a lovely slubby texture typical of dressmaking barkcloth. It is a medium weight fabric which makes it suitable for skirts, trousers, tops, and jackets among other things. I loved the retro designs that evoked a sixties bold print vibe. I did get a bit precious about what to sew with. In close competition was the Holyburn skirt but in the end the Cocoon Dress won out because it’s a versatile style that allows the fabric to shine!
Bonus! I have a video where you can see my linen Simple Sew Cocoon dress in action and why I love it so much!
