When it comes to Vogue V1486 Designer sewing pattern by Nicola Finetti I am convinced it is the best DIY skirt sewing pattern! Why?
Because I have sewn it 5 times now. With plans to yet make more of these midi-length skirts. My sister has put one on order as well. The fifth project is my latest Minerva Blogger Network sewing project which you can check out here.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? – I LOVE the box pleats that create the full skirt.
Fabric Used: Lady McElroy Scuba Knit Fabric Multicoloured. 95% Polyester, 5% Spandex . 58″ wide. Washed and dried normally.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Replaced in seam pockets with patch pockets, eliminated zip, used wide elastic for waistband.

January 21, 2020 7:33 amI like yours better than the pattern picture, not just the fabric but I didn’t fancy the pattern because it sticks out too much for me. Yours looks lovely.

January 22, 2020 10:36 amThank you! I think the fabric they used on the pattern envelope is a jaquard style type which really gives the skirt structure. Now that you mention it – I dont think I’ve seen it sewn in drapey fabric like a viscose…might give that a try!
