This post is a pattern review of Grasser Patterns Womens Top no. 469. This top was inspired by a top that I saw on Pinterest which had deep cuff sleeves.
I have used Grasser patterns before to sew a sweater and a men’s cashmere coat. For more information on sewing with Grasser patterns – check out this post.
I knew I wanted such a top for my summer travels across Europe where the temperatures are much hotter. I favour linen when I travel in summer. The soft delicate pink limerick linen was a great base for this style.
It is gauzy and ever so soft with a delightful delicate pinky-ness that reminds me of cherry blossom.

Grasser Women’s Top Pattern No. 496 Review
Pattern Description: A woman’s top with deep cuffed sleeves, notched wide neckline, and button fastening at the back. Bust darts provide minimal shaping.
Pattern Sizing: Sizes – EUR 38 – 56 presented in three height – 158-164cms, 164 -170cms and 170 – 176 cms. I got the size 44 height 164 -170cm.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? – Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? – Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? – The wide roll neck.
Fabric Used: Robert Kaufmann Limerick Linen. It is a fine linen weave that is almost gauzy. It has a slubby texture. The main colourways are lovely pastel shades – think light and airy. Since it is lightweight and airy I’d advise using spray starch to stiffen it for cutting. The fabric works well for loose fit styles such as this top.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I omitted the back neck opening and the notch at the front. The neckline is wide enough to pullover the head.
Would you sew it again? – Yes!

Would you recommend it to others?– Yes
Conclusion – Yes I highly rate Grasser patterns on the caveat that you know what you are doing and aren’t scared of figuring things out on your own. The seam allowances are in industrial sewing standards and so expect to up your sewing game when working with Grasser sewing patterns.
