I recently sewed another of the Love Notions Kids Compose Robe sewing pattern and what a fun sewing project it was! My son had outgrown his housecoat six months ago. I had promised to make him one for his birthday so when I saw this cuddle fleece fabric with galaxies, I asked him if he’d like the fabric. He was smitten and that is how this sewing project came to be. As I’ve mentioned in my sewing for kids advice post, once you decide on a kids sewing project you must strike while the iron is still hot and get it done straightaway. I’m glad to say that I followed that adage and got it done within 2 days – from printing PDF to snipping the last thread. After the success of this first Kids Compose Robe, my daughter has been wanting her own in a similar type of fabric. The white background of the quirky woodland animals was an instant hit with her when she saw it. Hence the second one was made. Both kids love their new cosy house robes – just in time for winter!
Love Notion Kids Compose Robe
The Kids Cmpose robe can be made with either a simple band or a nice, deep hood for ultimate comfort. This robe can be made with knit or woven fabric. It comes in Sizes: 2T-16 of which I sewed the age 10y. The fit is as expected based on the images on the site. It sewed up quickly being mostly done on the overlocker. Love Notions also have this pattern available in adult sizes as well. All Love Notions sewing patterns are PDFs.

Fabric Used –
The first version was sewn using the galaxies print Plush Cuddle Fleece Fabric Navy . The second one is Plush Cuddle Fleece Fabric Multicoloured. They are both the same type of fabric which is 100% polyester. It is 59 inches wide and has about 10% give on the cross grain. It is a micro-fiber plush fabric that is perfect for your ultra-soft and cuddly housecoat, sweater, blanket, or cozy doll. My son likes all things space related while my daughter loves drawing whimsical nature items so both fabrics worked well.
I’m so happy to have made this Kids Compose Robe for my son as he is loving it. I used the leftover scraps to make some small plushies in squares and rectangles. I stuffed them with the overlocker offcuts – the offcuts of this cuddle fleece are perfect toy stuffing.
