McCalls M6044 is the pattern that keeps on giving! I love using this pattern to make shirts for my husband. This would be number 9 that I have made for him. It stands out quite a bit because I used a solid for the first time – usually, he goes for quirky prints. I really loved sewing with the denim chambray which is so soft against the skin yet can make a crisp collar.
The big challenge with this shirt was that my husband always had a complaint about the homemade shirts which was that the collars would eventually get a bit floppy after several washes. I did my research and tried out Pellon Shape-Flex Woven Interfacing which is a fusible interfacing that is stiff and reputedly used in industry. Having used it now, I can say that I will always use this for collars. For all the sizing and construction details please read the first McCalls M6044 post here.
