Hello everyone!
How are you? Hope you are having a great weekend! I am super excited to share my completed second muslin of the V1440 top. Firstly fit was an issue on my first go which I wrote about here. Here is a picture of the first muslin fit.
Now on to Muslin2….
And the back yoke detail that I love so much! My edgestitching is dodgy…so is my topstitching for that matter ;-(..
Vogue V1440 View A
So whats the plan now?
- I am cutting out another one this weekend and will make it with just a collar stand.
- This one counts as wearable muslin.
- Figure out neat edgestitching.
I will do another post just on the construction and the interiors – I had so much fun with it and took loads of pictures. So that will be coming soon ;-).
Happy sewing everyone and have an awesome weekend!

March 7, 2015 1:30 pmHI Hila, This is fabulous! I’ve made the jacket from this pattern and plan on many versions of the top! LOVE it!
Hila
March 7, 2015 7:40 pmThanks Sue! I loved your jacket too! When i bought this pattern I was in between about the jacket but seeing your version on PR made me want to make it. It will have to go on the fall sewing queue though because our weather is getting warmer 😀

March 7, 2015 3:13 pmI was going back and forth trying to decide whether or not to buy this pattern for myself. Your muslins turned out super cute and flattering! I might have to get it now. 🙂

March 7, 2015 8:12 pmDitto the above, didn’t think your first one looked too bad, but the fit on this is perfect! A great shirt for the sunnier months 🙂

March 8, 2015 12:03 pmThank you! I am insanely proud of this make. Hopefully it can only get better 😉 Looking forward to summer definitely.
Linda of Nice dress! Thanks, I made it!!
March 8, 2015 1:54 amI love the yolk details and the flare – this is a really nice pattern and I think you are doing a nice job with them. I use my blind hem foot to make my edge stitching straighter. Quite often there is a sewing foot buried in the box that will do the trick!
Hila
March 8, 2015 12:06 pmHmm I need to look through the feet that came with my machine – I have never really bothered with them except for the button foot. Thanks for the tip! I appreciate it and will let you know how I get on with a blind hem foot 😉

March 9, 2015 10:22 amI love the details on this top and the little split in the back is a lovely feature. It fits you really well too. Now, where’s the sun….? 🙂

March 9, 2015 8:20 pmThat is the million dollar question! We had a bit of sun and warmth on Saturday and the local parks were absolutely heaving! But its back to cold now. Brrr. Still I live in hope that it will turn up and I can wear my spring stuff I am sewing 😉

March 12, 2015 1:10 pmThat looks fantastic. I can’t believe it is a muslin. Definitely wearable. How do you determine what to use for a muslin? And how many times do you keep trying a pattern before giving up? I think I give up on patterns too quickly. From this post, I am beginning to understand that if I fail the first time, I should keep trying. Thanks for this post.

March 14, 2015 10:35 pmHi. Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I use linen for muslin because I have got loads of it that I got for 90p/m which is really cheap – its the cheapest fabric in my stash. When it comes to a pattern I am learning that the more muslins I make the better the fit gets. My 3rd Hollyburn skirt fits like a dream :D. I think when you really like a style its worth doing a minimum of 2 muslins. The first one to get to grips with the construction and the second one to perfect the fit. So yes keep at it for a while at least 👊:D

April 23, 2015 5:43 pmYours is cooler than the pattern photo! Good job. I thought I only had one Vogue pattern I wanted to buy right now, but I may have to make that two after seeing this. Nice, job!

May 23, 2015 7:44 pmHi – I am having trouble following their instructions on the back yoke – do you have any insight? I think you did a great job on the variations.
Hila
May 23, 2015 9:18 pmThanks Bellina! I’ve used 2 different methods for the yoke. One use the same conept as sewing a godet on a skirt. I checked out Youtube tutorial by just googling sewing a godet. That sxplain how to sew to the point. Just remember to sew wrong sides together with the seam allowance on the RIGHT side of the fabric. Hope that helps 😃

May 23, 2015 9:58 pmThanks Hila – for getting back to me so quickly and for the advice. I will check out the godet tutorials. Following your blog now 😀
