I sewed a trio of SewHouse7 Nehalem pants! I believe when you sew three of the same pattern it becomes a TNT? How about when the pattern is something that others ask, nay beg you, to make them a pair too? Well, then that’s a prolific TNT! When I sewed up my first one as a tester for SewHouse7 4 years ago I had no idea how much this would be a much-loved pattern. My husband wore out the first one – he found them so comfortable to wear.

Once he wore out the ones I made 4 years ago, I had promised to sew another pair and got round to it, but only after I had made myself another pair! I sewed the second pair in red stonewashed linen which is perfect for this sort of style. Once my red ones were in circulation it became a constant reminder to my husband how much he missed having his own pair. After much nagging, I sewed him his in gorgeous Italian linen. I am convinced that linen is the best fabric for this style. When my sister saw mine (and his) she wanted a pair. So I made her one.
I have to point out that I normally do not like to sew things for others because of the time it takes to create a garment. Time and attention are my most precious resource and am very mindful of where I direct them. But the Nehalems are so quick to sew that it takes me no more than 2 hours from cutting to snipping the final thread. That is what this pattern has going for it – it really is a super instant gratification project.

Nehalem Pants Sewing Pattern Review
SewHouse7 Nehalem Pant Sewing Pattern Description
The Nehalem pants feature oversized side patch pockets, vertical back seaming and a wide waistband that can be worn upright or folded down and tied. The pants feature cropped and long versions. No closures to sew. The pattern is available as a PDF or paper.
Pattern Sizing
XS – XXL . I sewed the size Medium for all three.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the giant patch pockets and the relaxed loose fit. Its perfect to wear during hot days.
Fabric Used
I used a stonewashed linen fabric for the red and black ones. It is the same as the one used for this Burda 8/2020 Skirt. It has a beautiful texture that works well for this sort of style. It is a medium weight woven fabric composed of 100% linen. The Georgio linen is a lovely slubby linen that comes in several colourways. Hubs chose camel as he wanted a summer loungewear garment. I prewashed all fabrics in a hot 40-degree celsius wash prior to sewing. It washes well and though the shrinkage is minimal its good idea to prewash linen.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made
The beige is made as-is for the size medium. The red one has 8″ added to the hem while the black one has 11″ added to the trouser length.
Would you sew it again?
Uh..yes!!
Would you recommend it to others?
Absolutely – this is gem of a pattern especially given how easy it is to sew. It has no closure to sew up. It makes for a great beginner level pattern that creates a unique looking garment.
Conclusion
Given that this is now Nehaleem pants #4, I think we are on to a winner here. My sister’s boyfriend has been making throat clearing noises about how much he likes them too! Only a matter of time before #5 comes along!
Dont you love it when a sewing project is well received?
