The Long Jacket
Once again it was a jacket that wowed me. The design line are nice and simple while paired with bright colourful contrasting fabrics.
The long jacket has a lot of design details that are eye catching. I especially love the use of the diagonal exposed zips. The styling is also on point – this says fun and joyful to me which are the qualities I curate in my handmade wardrobe.
Here is the line drawing –
The technical drawing for the back of the long jacket shows that there is a pleat. This indicates that this also a roomy jacket that would be perfect for winter layering. Another prospect that excites me about this pattern.
To sum up, this one sewing pattern by itself made the entire issue worth it.
The Asymmetric Dress
The design lines on the knit dress are daring, given that it is sewn using a knit jersey fabric.
Its almost too much in a way. You can see on the picture how the weight of the double skirt looks like it is pulling the bodice down.
Its a great idea but I think the execution needed more work. Have a look at the video posted by Knipmode on their YouTube channel of the dress.
I do like the combination of the boat neck line and the daring design line to enough to consider how I could make this work. I need to think of a way to provide support for the stress point where the double skirt and bodice meet. Thinking hat on!
