Vogue patterns have released their latest spring offerings. When I started sewing I used to eagerly anticipate the new Vogue releases but as time passed they all seemed too samey for me.
This release, however, caught my eye – because it had 2 sewing patterns that I immediately bonded with. Quel surpris!
Make Wish List
So much so, that I have added them to my “Make Wish List” (a list of patterns that I absolutely definitely must make before I kick the bucket). My MWL (Make Wish List) is mostly populated with Burda patterns and advanced Grasser designs.
Rarely does a Big 4 pattern company make the list – until now. So, what Vogue patterns have me so ga-ga? Here we go:
Vogue 1638 Misses Skirt
Just looking at the styling picture hooked me and when I saw the line drawing I knew I had to sew this. It comprises a fitted skirt with an overskirt. The overskirt has an asymmetrical hem and a lot of volume.
I have a penchant for full volume skirts – most recently realised in my sixth Vogue V1486 – a Nicola Finetti design.
Just look at the line drawing – It has some exciting elements that inspire me. I’d love to sew with with wildly contrasting fabrics – maybe a stripe and a floral.
Vogue V1617 Misses Dress
I love the shaped band on the dress. Paired with the fitted bodice, the design styles remind of a D&G dress that I have been wanting to mimic for a while now.
I want to sew with a solid colour for the main and use some sort of animal print for the banded details. I can see this being a fun pattern
And now the pattern is here for me! I am looking forward to getting these patterns once they arrive on our shores.
Did anything catch your eye in the Vogue 2020 spring release?
Notable mention – Vogue V1680
This pattern has some intriguing details that did pique my interest. Alas, I have quite a few “twist” type styles on my MWL already so it didn’t quite make it. I am looking forward to seeing it sewn up by others.
Pin, share, and save for later

January 27, 2020 8:23 amIt was a mixed bag for me. I thought quite a few were very on trend and interesting, but probably not ones I would wear, and I’m trying it to make things just because I’m interested in the sewing, but also that I will wear a lot. But I can really see you in the skirt, fabulous. I love it but for me at 5ft 3 I think it would drown me a bit!
